These days efficeint commucation is very important to achieve various goals in our lives. When we have conversation without efficiency and accuracy, it is easy to missunderstand eachother. Thus, personsl relationship in social realm including work place depends greatly on the communication. Moreover, accont for the development of telecomunication, the character of communication has changed and is changing rapidly. This is the reason why we should learn and practice professional communication skills. To be more specific, there is an example which illustrates the neccesity of communication skills.
Nowadays, the range of communication has been expanding to the extent that we sometimes have to deal with international matters, not to mention various domestic problems. For example, some countries have conflicts with other countries due to frontier problems, of which the outcomes vary markedly depending on the communication capacity . As we can see in this simple example, we should be well prepared to communicate in this world with wide range of communication atmosphere.
To sum up, accurate and efficient communicating ability is getting more important than ever before. In this situation, various communication skills help us to communicate better in various situations. We can learn how to present our ideas to others more precisely, and we can excercise the way to understand the ideas of other people more effciently. Plus, the noise of conversation such as semantic, psychological, and environmental obstacles can be overcomed by practicing communication skills. This is the reason why I want to take this course to learn how to communicate effectively in order to persuade and negotiate with other people.
hm.. with regards to international matters, I'd say it was a 50-50 affair. 50% on communication and the other 50% in personal agenda and self interests. Examples in which self interests apparently dominates the negotiation table is that of the conflict between Isreal and Palestine. It's not something that can be solved via effective communication alone. Other conflicts and in fact most conflict (civil war in Sri Lanka, the 2 world wars) were solved via violence. there is just so much "effective communication" could do in the global arena. My 2 cents worth of opinion really.
